Our Story
Sabor das Índias – 25 years turning pepper into flavor.
In 1994, in the kitchen of the Moreira de Aquino family, Sabor das Índias was born. Acompany specialized in peppers, which today exports to several countries. The idea came up with the family's small pepper plantation, which they dreamed of one day turning into an industry, but until it reached the success it is today, many kilometers were driven inside a VW Type 2, on Via Dutra, to sell the pots with the delicacy from door to door.

It started with the investment of 300 reais of the overdraft, to be able to produce 30 glasses of pepper, and the confidence to negotiate them on the same day. To everyone's surprise, the first sale was a success and the family managed to sell all the glasses to a single person. Nowadays, the company based in Vinhedo, in the inland of São Paulo, led by brothers Diogo and Gustavo, exports various items derived from pepper to Angola, Canada, China, Dubai, United States, Holland, England, Paraguay, Portugal and Switzerland.
Social and Environmental Responsibility
In addition to the excellence in its products totally without preservatives, the brand is proud to practice social and environmental responsibility, since it works directly with small farmers, thus enabling the sustenance of 21 families in Minas Gerais, as well as honoring the certifications it has such as Vegan; ABRINQ Foundation and AMPA - Associação Amigos do Peixe-Boi. Sabor das Índias is also in the process of ISO 9000 certification, and once completed, it will be the first Brazilian company in the segment to receive the seal. Another differential of the company is to use raw material from the Amazon in its creations, such as Murupi pepper, for example, also purchased directly from riverside producers installed in the Negro and Solimões rivers region.
With the creation of a special line of products with ingredients from the Amazon rain forest and our interest in supporting conservation actions for Brazilian fauna, Sabor das Índias entered into a partnership with the Associação Amigos do Peixe-boi da Amazônia - AMPA to support such initiatives of research for the conservation of aquatic mammal species in the Amazon.

Part of the profits of this product line of ours is directed to AMPA, with a focus on the Amazonian Manatee Reintroduction Program, a species that is on the international list of animals threatened with extinction. This program rescues, rehabilitates, reintroduces and monitors these animals, in a process that can last more than 10 years.

AMPA works mainly with the reintroduction of Amazonian manatees and with monitoring of porpoises in several rivers and lakes in the Amazon. These are activities of great socio-environmental importance and have relatively high costs due to the Amazon scale. These partnerships are essential to strengthen the conservation actions of these species and so that more and more people are aware of the work of this important non-profit organization. Growth and International Presence
The company, which traded approximately 150 tonnes of pepper in 2018, confirmed a 30% growth in 2019. With the experience of two international fairs, the Fancy Food Show in New York, the largest in the US in the segment and the CIIE in China, Sabor das Índias participated for the first time in the APAS Show, an important food, beverage, hygiene, cleaning, equipment and technology fair for supermarkets in the world, launching the new labels and its special mustard in the International pavilion.

During the event, the brand also started a major campaign to demystify the idea that every pepper or product that comes from it has ardor.
“Pepper is about flavor and not just about burning. People need to know the peppers without burning and the delights that can be made with them ”. Diogo Moreira de Aquino, partner and responsible for the gourmet creations of Sabor das Índias.
